According to Sabre booking data, Brit travellers have taken an early lead when planning vacations for 2025. Perhaps eager to escape Britain’s colder temperatures next year with something exciting planned as an escape, more Brits than any other nation have booked their 2025 travel plans early.
U.S. travelers, Germanyians, Koreans and Australians all made travel plans well in advance for 2025 holidays – among which were France, Denmark Canada Thailand Taiwan as early bookers.
Booking early appears to be becoming an increasing trend among travellers who wish to ensure the exact trip they want is available or manage their budget better. According to Sabre’s data covering bookings made between Q1 2025 and the end of March 2024, British earlybird bookings increased over last year for 2024 trips made between these dates; early bookings from Korea, Thailand, Taiwan were more likely this year to have made plans than previous years while bookings made from Spain and Japan in 2025 were on an upward trend as well.
Where Are 2025 Early Bird Travellers Going? Early birds who plan on leaving soon often travel both domestically as well as more globally.
Globally, the top destination already booked for 2025 is the US. Many travellers looking for some winter sun have also booked Thailand as their second-most-popular winter sun destination; Singapore, Japan, Britain, Australia South Africa Vietnam India are amongst these top 10 most booked 2025 travel spots from Q1 2025 through March 2024 booking periods; these booking numbers exceed those made between 2023-2024! Thailand Spain Singapore Japan Britain Vietnam & India have also experienced more bookings vs 2023-2024 periods respectively in 2025-2024 periods than during similar timeframe in 2023/2024 booking periods of time for each respective year 2024 booking periods than when booking periods were underway 2023-2024 period when booking periods were similar periods vs 2023 2024!
Britain’s Favorite 2025 Destinations
With Britain topping early bird bookers, let’s take a peek into where British travellers are planning their trips for 2025. Out of the top 10, eight are long haul trips – which shows travellers’ preference to plan longer trips further in advance while short haul plans still need to be determined. When it comes to destinations already booked by British travellers, Spain ranked first. Thailand, India, Singapore Maldives United Arab Emirates United Arab Emirates South Africa Iceland Australia are all top contenders.
As Sabre data looks at bookings made during Q1, when temperatures will still be cool in Britain, British holidaymakers appear eager to escape for warmer climes – though not shying away from cold climates such as Iceland either! Early-bird bookings rose year over year across countries including US, Spain, Thailand India Maldives UAE; but Barbados and Sri Lanka did not quite make the top 10. In particular Sri Lanka saw increased early-bird interest as its popularity surges further.
Who Will Visit Thailand in 2025? Like other global tourist spots, Thailand has implemented strategies to attract increasing numbers of tourists from targeted nations; including visa-free stays for certain nationalities. Given that Thailand ranks among Sabre’s data as one of the fastest-growing early booker destinations, where are these early birds coming from?
Unsurprisingly, most travelers to Thailand come from countries in need of some sunlight; Britain leads in terms of visitors from this category while Thailand itself comes second; this likely reflects multi-center trips or those flying directly from Bangkok to other popular locations upon arriving (Phuket perhaps?). Germany comes third followed by Denmark who awarded Thailand “best destination outside Europe” award during their recent travel awards; followed by France Taiwan Korea Netherlands Austria Sweden who make up the remaining 10; many opting to book early and reserve their trip there!
Prioritising Travel It is evident that people worldwide are prioritizing travel and making sure 2025 plans have already been developed. Travellers frequently book early so as to maximize budget control or secure specific accommodation and destinations of interest. Booking far in advance tends to signal confidence among travelers. Before and during the pandemic, many planned their trips closer to when they actually traveled; now however, people feel more at ease booking trips further in advance – by making plans now for 2025 travel, they have ample time to plan what activities to enjoy at their destinations and anticipate enjoying themselves on these adventures!
