Braves extend winning streak to six with back-to-back wins over Rockies

The Atlanta Braves extended their winning streak to six games by defeating the Colorado Rockies 2-1 on Saturday afternoon at Truist Park, according to MLB.com. The victory came after Atlanta beat Colorado 6-4 on Friday night, ABC News reported.

Michael Harris II supplied the decisive hit on Saturday, driving in two runs with a double in the eighth inning. Martín Pérez held the Rockies to one run while pitching 5 2/3 innings, according to MLB.com.

MLB.com reported that Atlanta’s record stood at 81-55 after Saturday’s victory. The article also listed the Braves’ starters with a 2.94 ERA since Aug. 4.

Harris and Acuña lead Friday win

In Friday’s game, Harris drove in three runs on two hits, including a home run, as Atlanta won 6-4, ABC News reported. Ronald Acuña Jr. had three hits and scored three runs.

Grant Holmes allowed three runs on eight hits in five innings for Atlanta, while Raisel Iglesias recorded the final three outs for his 29th save, according to ABC News. Tomoyuki Sugano allowed six runs on 10 hits in four-plus innings for Colorado.

ABC News also reported that the Braves announced Spencer Schwellenbach and Hurston Waldrep would undergo season-ending elbow surgeries.

Pitching and late offense decide Saturday

Pérez allowed the Rockies one run, and Harris hit a decisive two-run double in the eighth inning, according to MLB.com. The Braves’ manager, Walt Weiss, said pitching was foundational to long-term success and credited the team’s pitching and bullpen after the win.

MLB.com reported that Pérez entered the game with a 3.05 season ERA across 26 appearances, including 22 starts. His August ERA was listed at 1.80.

Colorado Rockies On SI reported that Ryan Feltner was listed as Colorado’s probable starter for Saturday against Martín Pérez. That report listed Pérez with an 8-8 record and a 3.12 ERA at the time of the announcement.
