Wrexham through after crazy comeback as Ipswich go out

The League Cup served up some late drama as Ipswich Town were knocked out at League Two side Bromley and Wrexham staged a dramatic late comeback to beat Hull on penalties.

Veteran striker Ollie Palmer came off the bench to seal a 3-3 draw with two headed goals in stoppage time, with the hosts then prevailing 5-3 on penalties after Joel Ndala hit the crossbar for Hull.

Ipswich – in the Premier League just a matter of weeks ago – came undone from the spot as Ali Al-Hamadi, a former Bromley player, saw his effort saved by Sam Long.

“These are the moments you live for and there’s more to come – I can’t wait to see who we get in the next round now,” goalkeeper Long said.

Elsewhere, Josh Vickers was Derby’s hero, making two penalty saves to help his side beat West Brom 3-2 on spot-kicks after a 1-1 draw.

Vickers denied Jed Wallace and then Karlan Grant, after Derby equalised in the final minute of stoppage time at The Hawthorns.

League One side Doncaster thumped Championship side Middlesbrough 4-0 at The Riverside, and fellow third-tier side Bradford won 2-1 at Blackburn.

League One Plymouth also staged a stunning comeback to beat QPR 3-2 at Home Park, having been 2-0 down at half-time.
