What are the main events for today?

EUROPEAN SESSION

In the European session, we don’t have much on the agenda other than a couple of low tier releases that won’t change anything for the market. The focus today will likely be on the third round of US-Iran nuclear talks in Geneva, which are seen as the last-ditch effort to prevent a conflict.

Judging by recent news though, an agreement looks unlikely and the risk of a military escalation could lead to some hedging into the weekend again.

AMERICAN SESSION

In the American session, the only highlight are the US Jobless Claims figures. Initial Claims are expected at 216K vs 206K prior, while Continuing Claims are seen at 1858K vs 1869K prior. The data is unlikely to change anything for the market at this point though, unless we get some meaningful deviations like Continuing Claims falling below 1800K or Initial Claims rising above 260K.
