‘We have to bring our fans back’ says Nuno

West Ham boss Nuno Espirito Santo says the Hammers must ‘bring our fans back’ after a sparsely-populated London Stadium booed them off against Brentford.

Goals in each half from Igor Thiago and Mathias Jensen gave the Bees a win that could, and should, have been by a bigger margin.

Thiago had a second goal ruled out for offside as Brentford dominated and West Ham lost a fifth successive home game for the second time in their history.

Nuno said: “That was tough. Not just for me. It was tough for our fans, for our players, for everybody.

“The first 15 minutes things were clicking and the team were organised and combining well. After that we lost composure.

“Credit to Brentford, a physical team that put us under problems. Throw-ins, corners and the monentum of the game changed.

“Every day we are learning. Every moment. We’re not going to sleep.

“It’s a challenge for all of us. It’s up to us to change the momentum and bring our fans back to support us. Win our individual duels. In four days time we need a big improvement.”

The Hammers, 19th in the table with one win so far, face Leeds on Friday night.
