Vic Fangio Gushes About Eagles Defender

The Philadelphia Eagles gave an outstanding performance in Week 8 when they got revenge on the New York Giants.

After consecutive impressive games by their defense, coordinator Vic Fangio had a lot of positive things to say about one member of his secondary.

“Vic Fangio says Cooper DeJean is a ‘d*** good’ nickel cornerback. One of the best in the NFL. So he does not want to take one of the best at a position and put him in another position, outside CB. He says they have talked about it but they don’t want to do it. Vic said Cooper could also play safety. Just a good football player,” John Clark wrote on X.

DeJean showed plenty of versatility in college at Iowa, but he has been so good in his role for the Eagles that it makes sense Fangio doesn’t want to disrupt it.

The defensive back has surpassed last season’s total with 52 combined tackles and equaled it with six passes defended already, and even though he could be capable of more, there simply isn’t a need for it at the moment.

The Philadelphia secondary has been healthy and productive so far, as Reed Blankenship and Andrew Mukuba have excelled at safety and have played every game.

Quinyon Mitchell, Kelee Ringo and Adoree Jackson have been productive at corner as well, and unless something unexpected happens, there is no reason for DeJean to have more on his plate.

Fans can only hope this season wraps up like last one did, with DeJean scoring a defensive touchdown in a Super Bowl victory.
