Here’s a heads up for investors and traders. India’s stock markets will be closed on Monday, March 31, 2025, for Eid-al-Fitr (also known as Ramadan Eid). Both the NSE and BSE have officially marked the day as a stock market holiday.
That means no action in the equity, equity derivatives, or SLB (Securities Lending and Borrowing) segments. And if you’re into commodities or currency derivatives, morning sessions on platforms like the MCX and NCDEX will also be off for the day.
Here’s the kicker, however, March 31 is also the final day of the financial year 2024–25. So, if you’ve got year-end positions to square off, don’t wait till the last minute, Friday, March 28 is your last trading day.

Why Is This Day a Stock Market Holiday?
Eid-al-Fitr marks the end of Ramadan, a sacred month for the Muslim community focused on fasting, prayer, and reflection. It’s a major celebration across India, and the market closure honors that.
Global markets, however, will keep moving. So, don’t be surprised if international events over the long weekend stir things up when Indian markets reopen on Tuesday, April 1, 2025, which also kicks off the new financial year.
This is a good time to double-check the stock market holiday calendar on 5paisa so you’re not caught off guard. After March 31, the next scheduled stock market holidays are on April 10 for Shri Mahavir Jayanti and April 14 for Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar Jayanti.
So, with a long weekend ahead, now’s the time to wrap up trades, rebalance your portfolio, and manage short-term risks smartly.
