UK September CBI retailing reported sales -29 vs -32 prior

  • Prior -32

This marks twelve straight months of falling sales in the UK with a gloomy outlook also still in place for October. The gauge of expected sales for next month fell sharply from -16 to -36, being the lowest estimate since July. CBI notes that:

“Weak demand continues to weigh on sales, while US tariffs are adding pressure for some retailers. Lackluster economic conditions are also affecting the wider distribution sector.”
