Powell didn’t look so comfortable. Still, things ya got do when the boss visits!
Trump comments ranged over numerous topics. Of course there were the inevitable calls for lower interest rates. Also:
- not necessary to fire Powell
- I thought it was a very productive talk
- I believe he’s gonna do the right thing
- have maybe 3 names in mind to replace Powell
- no pressure on Powell
- we have to get housing prices down
(yeah, I know, lower rates will probably send them up, cognitive dissonance is one of Trump’s strengths)
- Europe wants to make a deal very badly
- We’re in the process of making a deal with Europe
- Powell told me the country is doing very well
- Fed was an expensive job, got out of control, it happens
