Tiger Woods was clearly planning to make a comeback at The Masters prior to his DUI arrest — something he told an officer right at the crash scene last week.
TMZ Sports obtained body cam footage of the exchange with responders on March 27 in Florida … when one asked Woods if he needed anything from his flipped Range Rover.
Woods said he wanted his clubs … and they joked about his famed putter that he made sure to note he’s used to win all his majors.
“They don’t call you the GOAT for nothin’, man,” the officer said to Woods.
That’s when the same officer popped the question: “Are you going for The Masters this year?”
Woods — who last competed at The Masters in 2024 — replied, “I’m hoping to.”
The Masters tournament starts on April 9 at Augusta National in Georgia. Following the crash, it was announced Woods would not be present — let alone compete.
There was speculation he was going to try — he even competed in the TGL event days before the wreck.
He did eventually get his clubs back from the wrecked SUV, though not the way he likely imagined.
After the Range Rover was flipped upright, officers had to smash the rear window to retrieve them.
In the video, you can see the golf bag with the iconic tiger headcover being pulled through the shattered glass and handed over to Woods’ manager, who showed up on the scene.
As we previously reported, Woods was later arrested for DUI and refusal to submit a urine test.
Woods said he’s stepping away to seek treatment — we later learned he’s going international for it for “privacy” — and will commit the time to “return in a healthier, stronger, and more focused place, both personally and professionally.”
