Texans Make Major Contract Move With Aireontae Ersery

The Houston Texans got another deal done.

After weeks of back and forth, they finally signed another one of their second-round picks.

According to a report by Aaron Wilson of KPRC, they just agreed to terms on a deal with No. 48 pick Aireontae Ersery.

They will give him $9.2 million, but the percentage of guaranteed money in his contract wasn’t disclosed.

Ersery will be in the mix to get a big role right out of the gate.

He will battle out with Blake Fisher and Cam Robinson for the starting tackle job.

He was a third-team All-American at the University of Minnesota after allowing just one quarterback hit and one sack in his final season in college.

While he spent most of the time playing left tackle, he also took a handful of snaps at right tackle and even left guard during his college career.

The Texans might not be the most popular team among all NFL franchises right now.

Their decision to give second-round wide receiver Jayden Higgins a fully guaranteed deal early on in May created a massive ripple effect around the league.

It was the first time a second-round pick got a fully guaranteed contract, and it led to 30 out of the 32 second-round picks to demand the same type of contract, thus delaying the entire process.

Even so, with training camps almost underway for all teams, it shouldn’t be long before we see other second-rounders also putting pen to paper and signing their rookie deals.
