Texans Have Re-Signed Veteran Defender

The Houston Texans lost some key veterans in the offseason, but they’re bringing back one of their key guys.

DeMeco Ryans’ defense will keep one of their run stoppers.

According to a report by Dianna Russini of The Athletic, they will bring back veteran DT Foley Fatukasi.

The terms of the deal haven’t been disclosed, but the roster now sits at 91 players, so they will have to release or waive another player to make room for him.

Fatukasi started 11 games for the Texans last season, and his absence was even more notorious than his presence.

The Texans allowed just 107.7 rushing yards per game when he played as opposed to 125.5 rushing yards per game when he sat.

The 6-foot-4 physical specimen finished the season with 24 tackles, four tackles for a loss, and one sack.

He will rejoin a room that also features the likes of Sheldon Rankins, Mario Edwards, Tim Settle Jr., Tommy Togiai, Kurt Hinish, seventh-round pick Kyonte Hamilton, and undrafted rookie Junior Tafuna.

According to multiple reports, he was dealing with a shoulder injury, which was also why he was in and out of the lineup down the stretch last season.

Now that he’s back to full strength, he will be expected to make an impact right out of the gate and establish himself as a perennial presence in the defensive line.

The Texans take pride in their defense, and after a somewhat disappointing campaign after C.J. Stroud’s impressive rookie season, they will look to re-establish their defensive dominance next year.
