NFL fans don’t have to think too hard when it comes to naming the top clubs in the league.
Immediately, Kansas City, Baltimore, Buffalo, Philadelphia, San Francisco and even Detroit are just a few of the franchises who have competed for championships in the past few seasons.
Looking back on the entirety of the NFL’s history, several other organizations are known for their championship pedigree, especially Dallas, Green Bay, Pittsburgh and New England (also joined by the 49ers).
So, it comes as somewhat of a shock that none of the aformentioned teams are the tops when it comes to the best win percentage in overtime in league history.
Surprisingly, that distinction goes to the Arizona Cardinals, as shown by Dov Kleiman on X.

Rounding out the top 5 teams with the best overtime win percentage in NFL history are the Washington Commanders, Denver Broncos, Las Vegas Raiders and a tie at five with the Steelers and New York Jets.
Given the frequent losing of the current iteration of the Cardinals, the list appears to be a mistake.
However, it can be easy to forget that the franchise began in Racine/Chicago, then Chicago and Pittsburgh in 1944, followed by Chicago again full-time from 1945-1959, then St. Louis from 1960-1987.
The organization has been the Phoenix/Arizona Cardinals since 1988.
During their history, the Cards have won two NFL titles and even played in a Super Bowl following the 2008 season, losing to Pittsburgh.
Given their hard luck recent history, Arizona fans at least have one thing to brag about.
