The Pittsburgh Steelers locked in one of their key players for the foreseeable future.
As expected, DeShon Elliott isn’t going anywhere.
According to Tom Pelissero of the NFL Network, the veteran safety has agreed to a two-year contract extension worth $12.5 million.

This is far from a surprise, given his strong play last season after previous time with the Baltimore Ravens, Detroit Lions and Miami Dolphins.
Elliott may have finally found a steady home after bouncing around the league in the first six years of his pro career.
He’s coming off a career-best 108 combined tackles with six passes defended, three fumble recoveries, two forced fumbles and one interception.
Elliott excelled against the run and shut down the middle of the field to anchor the defense.
That wasn’t a fluke, as it was the fourth time in the past five seasons that Elliott logged at least 80 combined tackles.
Elliott is a veteran, and at 28 years old likely has plenty left in the tank.
Now, with a big payday and bigger responsibility, expectations will be higher for him as he enters his second campaign with Pittsburgh.
The Steelers’ offense likely will continue to be a question mark this season, and they will again rely on their defense to get back to the playoffs, making Elliott a key part of their plans.
