Green Bay Packers fans were surprised to see that the front office worked out a trade to secure Micah Parsons, an emotion that quickly turned to excitement.
It’s rare for an edge-rusher to become available in their prime, but Parsons wanted to come to Green Bay and join a contender, so it appeared to be a match made in heaven.
He’s more than proved himself thus far, and the stats back that up, as researcher Tony Holzman-Escareno noted on X.
“Micah Parsons is the only player in the NFL with a 20+ QB pressure pct and a 20+ doubled-teamed pct this season,” per Next Gen Stats, via Tony Holzman-Escareno.

As this stat indicates, Parsons is getting home to the quarterback at an elite rate, and as a result, is being double-teamed by opposing offensive lines.
This has allowed his new Packers teammates opportunities to shine, as some of them are single-covered or left open.
With a player like Parsons on the defensive side of the ball, the Packers should be one of the best units in the league.
They haven’t played up to that standard over the past few weeks, but if they can harness where they are the strongest, there’s no reason to believe they can’t be a top-five unit moving forward.
The Packers play the Pittsburgh Steelers this weekend in what could prove to be a telling matchup for this defense.
Aaron Rodgers is playing inspired football, and if the Packers let him, he could look like his former MVP self in this one, like he has a few times this season.
