Reserve Bank of New Zealand news.

NZ Finance Minister Willis:

  • Appoints Anna Breman as new governor of the Reserve Bank of New Zealand
  • Breman was nominated for the role by the Reserve Bank board following a worldwide search in which 300 potential candidates were identified.
  • Breman has been appointed for a term of five years. She begins her new role on 1 December and I look forward to working with her.
  • I also want to acknowledge Christian Hawkesby who has done an admirable job of filling in as governor since 8 April. Mr Hawkesby will finish up at the Reserve Bank when Dr Breman starts.

Anna Breman is a Swedish banker and economist.

Was serving as the First Deputy Governor of the Sveriges Riksbank, the central bank of Sweden.
