Report, result and goals as Spurs SURVIVE on final day

Tottenham secured their Premier League survival with a tense 1-0 win over Everton at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium on Sunday, while West Ham were relegated despite beating Leeds in the final day.

Spurs knew avoiding defeat would almost certainly be enough, but the pressure ramped up as West Ham took the lead in East London during the afternoon. Roberto De Zerbi’s side would ultimately hold on in a nervy finale that stretched beyond the 100-minute mark.

Palhinha the Tottenham hero

The decisive moment came in the 43rd minute through Joao Palhinha. After Tottenham repeatedly threatened from set-pieces, Palhinha headed against the post before reacting quickest to turn in the rebound past Jordan Pickford for the only goal of the game.

Spurs had controlled much of the first half, registering 14 shots before the break. Kevin Danso dragged an early effort wide, while Conor Gallagher smashed into the side-netting after a defensive mix-up from Everton.

Nervy ending in North London

Everton improved after the interval and pushed Tottenham deep in the closing stages. Micky van de Ven produced a vital interception to deny Beto from close range, while goalkeeper Antonin Kinsky made a stunning late save to keep out Tyrique George in stoppage time.

As news filtered through that West Ham had beaten Leeds 3-0, tension around the stadium rose. However, Everton could not find an equaliser, allowing Tottenham to confirm their survival at the final whistle.

The result completed a dramatic turnaround under Roberto De Zerbi, who guided Spurs away from relegation danger after a turbulent campaign.

The relief was evident inside the stadium at full-time, although the celebrations were partially muted due to the nature of how the season as a whole unfolded.
