Raiders GM Hints At Possible Draft Pick At No. 6

The Las Vegas Raiders needed a new quarterback.

Pete Carroll turned to a familiar face and traded for Geno Smith to solve that issue.

They already have a stud tight end in Brock Bowers, so it is time to add a big-time threat for the running game.

At least, that’s how Raiders’ GM Jack Spytek’s oldest son feels.

That’s why he demanded his father take Boise State star Ashton Jeanty at No. 6, and it seems like he might listen to him.

In a recent interview, Spytek revealed that his son campaigned for them to take Jeanty, and he was willing to go to great lengths to make his voice heard (via Dov Kleiman):

“My oldest son has made it no secret that if we don’t pick Ashton Jeanty at 6 that he’s walking out of the family and he’s gonna find somebody else, probably whoever takes Ashton. Jack is motivated by fantasy football and touchdowns,” he said.

For years, teams have been wary of taking running backs in the first round, and especially as high as No. 6.

However, after watching Saquon Barkley dominate his way to the Super Bowl last season, perhaps teams will stop taking that approach.

Jeanty is coming off one of the single greatest seasons by any running back in college football history, and while No. 6 might seem a little too rich to some, he’s definitely done more than enough to be in the conversation.

Of course, there are also some valid concerns about him, such as his program’s lack of high-end competition.

Nevertheless, the production and the tape speak for themselves.

Also, given Coach Carroll’s success with the running game in the past, having him out there in Sin City does sound like a very promising situation.
