The Los Angeles Rams made a surprising decision earlier in the offseason by cutting ties with Cooper Kupp.
Kupp was instrumental in their 2021 Super Bowl run, a player that many expected to be a part of this organization for the long haul.
However, for a multitude of reasons, the Rams ended up saying goodbye to their veteran and released him, which led to him signing with the Seattle Seahawks.
Interestingly enough, his former teammate, Puka Nacua, could have been a member of the Seahawks if the 2023 NFL Draft went differently.
Nacua mentioned as much in a recent interview with the NFL on CBS, saying there’s a chance he was going to play for another team in the NFC West.
“I think I would have ended up in Seattle,” Nacua said, noting that he talked to them a lot throughout the pre-draft process.

Thankfully for the Rams, they scooped him up in the fifth round, and he’s quickly turned into their top receiver, and one of the better young receivers in the league as well.
Things might have been different for the Rams had they not snagged Nacua, and there’s a good chance that Kupp would still be on the roster if they had gone elsewhere in the draft.
By getting rid of Kupp, the Rams showed that they are loyal to Nacua and hope that he’s their WR1 for the foreseeable future, potentially hoping that they can find another diamond in the rough in future drafts, wanting to build their roster from the ground up.
