Packers Urged To Extend Key Player

The Green Bay Packers need to bounce back from two disappointing outings.

The Cleveland Browns’ defense shut down their offense in a Week 3 loss, and their defense failed to establish any momentum in a Week 4 tie against the Dallas Cowboys.

If there is a silver lining, it might be that Romeo Doubs made his case as a potential WR1.

With that in mind, insider Eli Berkovits urged the team to sign Doubs to a contract extension.

“Romeo Doubs is the only WR on this team who makes that catch. He must be extended,” Berkovits wrote on X.

Doubs had one of the best games of his NFL career against Dallas.

He hauled in six of eight targets for 58 receiving yards and three touchdowns, showcasing his impressive chemistry with Jordan Love.

For years, the Packers have struggled to find a go-to guy.

Christian Watson could have been that, but he’s often injured.

Rookie Matthew Golden was selected in the first round of the 2025 NFL Draft to be their primary pass catcher, but he might need some more time to take on that role.

Doubs hasn’t always seen eye-to-eye with head coach Matt LaFleur, but he might be Green Bay’s most consistent receiver.

He’s playing the final season of his rookie contract, and while the Packers might want to see Watson and Jayden Reed return to action before making any rash decisions, a new deal could be considered before he becomes a free agent.

Otherwise, perhaps the best thing Green Bay could do is drive up his trade value and get as much as they can in return before he just walks away.
