Packers Coach Says 1 Defender Is Playing At ‘Elite Level’

Many people lauded the Green Bay Packers’ defense as among the best in the NFL through the first two weeks of the season.

After their past four performances, that initial analysis has been called into question, especially after their collapses against the Dallas Cowboys and Cleveland Browns.

While there is some doom and gloom surrounding this defense, especially in the eyes of some fans, there are plenty of reasons to be excited about their outlook moving forward.

Micah Parsons is playing like the All-Pro player the Packers traded for, and as writer Weston Hodkiewicz noted on X, defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley is also excited about one of his teammates on defense.

“I think Quay is playing at an elite level right now,” Hafley said.

Quay Walker is now in his fourth season, a player the Packers used a first-round pick on in 2022.

Walker was great at the linebacker position through his first three years, but he’s been unlocked even more having Parsons on the roster.

Parsons is often double-teamed, which is great news for Walker, who can get more pressure on the quarterback than he was able to in prior seasons.

Walker isn’t necessarily a high-sack player like Parsons, but he has racked up a lot of tackles, registering 59 tackles in six games.

His career high was 121 tackles in 2022, so he’s well on his way to putting his best season together.

If Walker and Parsons can keep playing at high levels, and they inspire their teammates to do the same, this defense could get back to the heights they found in the first two weeks of the season.
