The Dallas Cowboys addressed their defensive deficiencies before the NFL trade deadline by acquiring All-Pro defensive tackle Quinnen Williams and linebacker Logan Wilson.
The moves target weaknesses in a front seven that has struggled as part of one of the league’s lowest-ranked units.
The secondary remains an area of concern, though the Cowboys expect Donovan Wilson, Malik Hooker and Shavon Revel Jr. to return from injury following their bye week and play in the Week 11 game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, the upgrades have not changed the outlook in the eyes of analyst Nick Wright, who made a surprising statement about Dallas.
“The Cowboys are done. They’re done. They were favorites last night. The [Arizona] Cardinals dominate them, even though they get a blocked punt touchdown. I’m done thinking about the Cowboys as even a frisky spoiler. Listen, they’re dangerous week to week because the offense can be that good. There are now 3-5-1. They had plenty of opportunities to not be done. But now, after the Raiders game, they go [Philadelphia] Eagles, [Kansas City] Chiefs, [Detroit] Lions. They’re finished,” Wright stated.

The assessment reflects the reality of Dallas’ position in the NFC playoff race.
Its three wins this season came against teams with a combined record of 6-20, including an overtime victory against the New York Giants and comfortable wins against the New York Jets and Washington Commanders.
The Cowboys also tied the Green Bay Packers at home in a game when they allowed 40 points.
A brief surge of optimism followed their victory against Washington, but consecutive losses to the Denver Broncos and Arizona ended that momentum.
The Cowboys likely need at least six more wins to challenge for a playoff berth, which may be unlikely considering their current roster.
