The Los Angeles Kings must secure Quinton Byfield as they explore goalie market options for goaltender Quinton Byfield to remain. Furthermore, with an expected salary cap space of roughly $20.9 Million they do possess some degree of flexibility when considering potential extension.
Quinton Byfield, who will soon enter free agency, requires a new deal, which could prove expensive unless they accept an interim arrangement that provides temporary relief from his rights issues. A bridge deal could prove less expensive.
Rob Blake will evaluate the goaltender market. At last season’s trade deadline he attempted to acquire Linus Ullmark and Juuse Saros; both goalies have one more season on their contracts.
Cam Talbot and David Rittich, two current Kings goaltenders who could become UFAs upon reaching free agency this summer are both under consideration as unrestricted free agents (UFA). Viktor Arvidsson (forefront) and Matt Roy (defenseman) also come up as unrestricted free agents this season; contract negotiations between Arvidsson and Matt Roy had reportedly been put off until after the trade deadline; preliminary discussions took place between Arvidsson and Kings which could resume shortly.
