The Green Bay Packers‘ defense looked to make a statement last Sunday.

Jeff Hafley’s unit was quite physical down the stretch, constantly getting to Jacoby Brissett.

As a result, one of their guys will have lighter pockets going forward.

As pointed out by Zach Kruse on X, LB Quay Walker was fined after the game:

Packers DE Micah Parsons wasn’t fined for his hip drop tackle on Jacoby Brissett last week, but LB Quay Walker was fined $17,389 for hitting Brissett in the head on his roughing the passer penalty in the first quarter.

That’s the current state of the game, as the league has put an emphasis on protecting the quarterback, and they know to hit the players where it hurts them the most.

Of course, one can argue whether some of those roughing the passer calls should be called or not, but that’s an entirely different conversation.

The fact of the matter is that this Packers’ pass rush is proving to be among the best in the game.

Adding Micah Parsons to that unit has worked wonders for Jeff Hafley’s defense, and he’s getting dangerously comfortable at Lambeau Field.

He had just the best game of his career in the win over the Arizona Cardinals, logging a career-high 3.0 sacks and running away with Defensive Player of the Week honors.

That game positioned him as the odds-on favorite to win Defensive Player of the Year honors, even though he’s not leading the league in sacks and there’s still plenty of football to be played.

Now, Parsons and the Packers’ defense will be in for a tougher challenge, as they’ll stay on the road to try to contain Aaron Rodgers and the Pittsburgh Steelers on national television.
