New Raiders QB Gushes About Brock Bowers

Chemistry between quarterback and receiver doesn’t happen overnight. It requires practice, trust, and an understanding that develops through repetition on the field.

For the Las Vegas Raiders, newly acquired quarterback Kenny Pickett seems to have found that connection quickly with one of the team’s most promising young talents.

Pickett, who joined Las Vegas after being traded from the Cleveland Browns, recently spoke about tight end Brock Bowers during his first media session with his new team.

“He’s a special player. Obviously, I watched him when he was in college. Now, being here on the practice field, I got to throw to him in one-on-ones. There’s things he does at the top of the routes to create separation is different than a lot of guys around the league. The guy finds ways to get open. He knows coverage. Being here two days, watching him find voids in zones. He’s an impressive guy, impressive player. Glad he’s on our side,” Pickett said of Bowers.

Bowers made an immediate impact during his rookie season after being selected 13th overall in the 2024 NFL Draft.

He finished with 112 catches for 1,194 yards and five touchdowns. Those numbers set him apart as one of the most productive first-year tight ends in recent memory.

What makes Bowers particularly valuable is his versatility. He can line up as a traditional tight end or split out wide like a receiver.

His speed and reliable hands allow him to stretch defenses vertically while his vision after the catch helps turn short completions into bigger gains.

The Raiders are building their offense around young talent under new leadership.

Head coach Pete Carroll and offensive coordinator Chip Kelly have inherited promising pieces like Bowers and running back Ashton Jeanty.

Pickett currently serves as the backup to starter Geno Smith.

When his opportunities come, the connection with Bowers could prove crucial for an offense looking to compete in the tough AFC West division.
