More record closes for the S&P and Nasdaq. A slew of earnings after the close.

The major US stock indices are closing session highs. For the S&P and NASDAQ indices, they each closed at record levels. For the Dow industrial average it closed 4 points from its all time high close which goes back to December 4, 2024.

A snapshot of the closing levels shows:

  • Dow industrial average rose 507.85 points or 1.14%, closing at 45010.29. The record high is 45014.04
  • S&P index rose 49.29 points or 0.78% at 6358.91.
  • NASDAQ index rose 127.33 points or 0.61% at 21020.02
  • Russell 2000 rose 34.37 points or 1.53% at 2283.12

The new intraday high for the S&P is 6360.64. The new intraday high for the NASDAQ is 21023.5.

After the close there has been a slew of earnings led by Alphabet

  • Alphabet (GOOGL) Q2 2025: EPS $2.31 vs exp. $2.16 BEAT, Revenue $96.43B vs exp. $93.85B BEAT, Cloud Revenue $13.624B vs exp. $13.14B BEAT, Ad Revenue $71.34B vs exp. $69.64B BEAT, Search Revenue $54.19B. Alphabet shares are trading lower despite the beat by $3.12 or -1.64% at $187.47. Alphabet snapped a 10-day up streak today with a decline of $1.11 or -0.58%.

Other earnings show:

  • Tesla (TSLA) Q2 2025: EPS $0.40 vs exp. $0.41 MISS, Revenue $22.5B vs exp. $22.09B BEAT. Tesla shares are trading down $-1.46 or 0.43% at $331.50.

  • ServiceNow (NOW) Q2 2025: EPS $4.09 vs exp. $3.58 BEAT, Revenue $3.22B vs exp. $3.12B BEAT. Shares are trading up $56.73 or 5.93% at $1013.16.

  • Chipotle (CMG) Q2 2025: EPS $0.33 vs exp. $0.33 MET, Revenue $3.06B vs exp. $3.11B MISS. Chipotle shares are trading down $4.78 or -9.06% at $48 even

  • IBM Q2 2025: EPS $2.80 vs exp. $2.65 BEAT, Revenue $16.98B vs exp. $16.58B BEAT, . IBM shares are trading down $13.26 or -4.7% at $268.75

  • T-Mobile (TMUS) Q2 2025: EPS $2.84 vs exp. $2.67 BEAT, Revenue $21.13B vs exp. $21.03B BEAT, Adj. EBITDA $8.55B vs exp. $8.4B BEAT. Shares are trading down seven cents or -0.25% at $27.68

  • CSX (CSX) Q2 2025: EPS $0.44 vs exp. $0.42 BEAT, Revenue $3.57B vs exp. $3.58B MISS. CSX shares are trading up $0.42 or 1.20% at $35.39
