The Seattle Seahawks are entering a new era of quarterback play.
After several years of rolling with Geno Smith, the Seahawks decided to sign Sam Darnold, who is coming off a career season with the Minnesota Vikings.
While Darnold is slated to be their starter this season, the front office decided to come up with a backup plan in the draft, taking Jalen Milroe in the third round.
Milroe was a highly-debated prospect heading into the draft, but many agreed that he had upside at the next level, if for nothing else than his rushing prowess and raw athleticism.
Head coach Mike MacDonald mentioned as much in a recent press conference shared by reporter Gregg Bell in X.
“We’re going to have plays in game plans for Jalen (Milroe), and he’s going to rep those with the 1s,” Macdonald said.

Milroe will seemingly get some opportunity in his rookie campaign, but how much remains to be seen.
The Seahawks are dealt a tough hand, being in the NFC West, needing to play two games against the San Francisco 49ers and two games against the Los Angeles Rams each season.
This immediately puts them in a tough situation, making it that much more difficult to win consistently, but they seem ready and up for the challenge, wanting to throw the kitchen sink at their competitors.
It will be interesting to see what their offense looks like with Darnold at the helm and with Milroe as his backup, but fans are ready for the season and want to watch it all play out.
