Line-ups confirmed as McTominay and Gilmour start

Scotland’s bid to reach next summer’s World Cup continues with a trip to Hungary to face, confusingly, Belarus.

The match is being played behind closed doors in a neutral venue as Belarus are banned from staging home matches in their own country because of their government’s support for the Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Scotland have lost just one of their last 17 World Cup qualifiers and will fancy their chances of an away win.

The sides have not met for 20 years and the Scots are hoping for three points to help them reach the finals for the first time in a generation.

Scotland team news

Napoli pair Billy Gilmour and Scott McTominay start together while Che Adams leads the line.

Lyndon Dykes drops out after starting against Denmark but is an option from the bench. McTominay is likely to push further forwards as a result.

Angus Gunn starts in goal and is without a win in his last 12 caps.

Scotland XI: Angus Gunn, Andy Robertson, Scott McKenna, John Souttar, Max Johnston, Billy Gilmour, Lewis Ferguson, Ben Gannon-Doak, Scott McTominay, John McGinn, Ché Adams

Belarus team news

The home side hand a start to German Barkovskiy after he came off the bench to score last time out.

There is a change in goal too as Fedor Lapoukhov comes in for Pavel Pavlyuchenko.

Belarus XI: Fedor Lapoukhov, Pavel Zabelin, Zakhar Volkov, Egor Parkhomenko, Kirill Pechenin, Sergey Karpovich, Max Ebong, Vladislav Kalinin, Maksim Myakish, German Barkovskiy, Evgeni Malashevich
