Tyron Smith’s NFL journey has come full circle as he prepares to retire with the team where he built his storied career.
The emotional parting between Smith and the Dallas Cowboys last year marked what seemed like the end of an era, with Smith heading to the New York Jets.
The Cowboys struggled to adapt without Smith, finishing with a 7-10 record as they worked to rebuild their offensive line.
Meanwhile, the Jets’ season didn’t unfold as planned, either, with a 5-12 record despite Aaron Rodgers’ presence.
Now, as Smith’s career draws to a close, the Cowboys reportedly will honor their longtime star with a ceremonial gesture.
“Cowboys legendary LT Tyron Smith is set to sign a one-day contract and retire as one of the organization’s all-time greats. A five-time All-Pro and eight-time Pro Bowler, Smith played 13 stellar seasons in Dallas before his final season with the Jets,” NFL Network insider Ian Rapoport wrote on X.

A first-round pick by the Cowboys in the 2011 NFL Draft, Smith quickly established himself as one of the league’s premier offensive tackles.
He made 171 starts and was instrumental in creating running lanes for several of the league’s top rushers.
In his final NFL season with the Jets, he appeared in 10 games before a neck injury landed him on injured reserve.
Though injuries hampered his availability in recent years, his dominance when healthy remains undisputed.
