When the Detroit Lions lost to the Green Bay Packers in Week 1 via blowout, some people questioned if they were going to be the same dominant team in 2025.

After all, the Lions had the Packers’ number in both matchups in 2024, but with major improvements on both sides of the ball, the Packers flipped the script.

The Lions’ offense couldn’t get much going, and it seemed like the Packers’ defense was doing whatever they wanted against their offensive line.

With that in mind, there were some questions about the Lions heading into their Week 2 matchup with the Chicago Bears, which, in hindsight, looks like a mistake.

The Lions’ offense came alive in this matchup and had a similar firepower that they showcased last season, scoring 52 points in the rout of their divisional rival.

Jared Goff was comfortable in the pocket, having plenty of time to get the ball into the hands of the Bears’ best players.

Amon-Ra St. Brown had a field day in this matchup, having nine catches for 115 yards and three touchdowns.

He showed that he can be a true X factor in this offense, that opposing defenses can’t take their eyes off of him.

The Lions have the Baltimore Ravens on deck in Week 3, and it appears that the Ravens’ defense is not only aware of St. Brown but also respects him and his play style.

Star DB Kyle Hamilton talked about this in a recent conversation shared by reporter Ryan Mink on X.

“It’s his toughness, his motor, blocking, route-running, yards after catch – he goes 100% at it. … Props to him and the way he plays because I think it’s kind of rare at the receiver position to approach the game the way he does,” Hamilton said.

When a defender recognizes a fellow player like this, it’s the ultimate sign of respect.

St. Brown has made an impression on his opponents and will have a great opportunity on Monday Night Football to prove that the Lions are ready for the spotlight.
