Key Falcons Player Is Dealing With An Injury

The Atlanta Falcons are heading into a pivotal year with question marks on both sides of the ball, as there was a lot of money and draft capital poured into the defense this offseason while the offense, built around a number of recent high draft picks in Michael Penix Jr., Kyle Pitts, Drake London, and Bijan Robinson, needs to take the next step collectively to get this team back to contention.

Unfortunately, a key member of that offense is now dealing with an injury that could keep him out for an unforeseen amount of time.

ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler shared on X that star right tackle Kaleb McGary suffered a leg injury on Wednesday and is out of the lineup for now, though an exact timetable for a return is unclear at the moment.

McGary was carted off the field before 11-on-11 drills on Wednesday and is already headed for an MRI to provide more clarity.

The 30-year-old tackle has been Atlanta’s starting right tackle for the past six years, and his role is even more important now that he is Penix’s blindside blocker since Penix is a lefty.

Storm Norton was McGary’s projected backup at RT, but he is also out for roughly six to eight weeks after recently undergoing ankle surgery.

It’s a painful development for this offense, and hopefully, McGary’s injury is minor and doesn’t cause him to miss time.

There is no clear option to fill in for him, and this whole offense needs a healthy McGary to achieve its highest possible outcome.
