Kevin O’Connell Reveals Injury Update On Justin Jefferson

The Minnesota Vikings are still without their best player.

Wide receiver Justin Jefferson continues to deal with a hamstring injury, and though it’s not believed to be serious, the team will err on the side of caution.

“WR Justin Jefferson will be reassessed this week, and the hope is to up his workload in the near future, per Kevin O’Connell,” Vikingz Fan Page wrote on X.

It’s not like Jefferson needs any reps in training camp or preseason games.

Of course, having him out there would be ideal, as he’s missing valuable time with his new quarterback, but he’s trying to be ready to go when games count.

The early returns on J.J. McCarthy have been encouraging.

Though earlier reports made it seem like he wasn’t quite ready, he’s looked solid so far after missing last season with a knee injury.

Having arguably the best wide receiver in the NFL will make life much easier for him in his first season as a starter.

Soft-tissue injuries tend to linger, and it’s usually better to give the hamstring more time to heal than to rush back to the field.

There’s no need to risk further injury with the start of the regular season around the corner.

Jefferson should have more than enough time to get into game shape and back to full strength ahead of Week 1.
