Justin Jefferson Could Make NFL History Against Falcons

The Minnesota Vikings struck gold when they drafted Justin Jefferson.

Not only did he outplay many of the players taken before him in the NFL Draft, but he’s also outplayed most wide receivers.

Notably, we’re not talking just about modern-day pass-catchers.

We’re talking about every single wide receiver that has set foot on an NFL field.

That’s why it’s not much of a surprise to hear that he’s about to make history on Sunday, according to a report by ESPN insider Adam Schefter:

“Justin Jefferson is 26 years and 90 days old today, and with his first catch tonight vs. the Falcons, he’ll tie Larry Fitzgerald as the youngest player in NFL history to reach 500 career receptions. Fitzgerald also was exactly 26 years and 90 years old in 2009 when he caught his 500th NFL pass,” Schefter posted on X.

Justin Jefferson didn’t have the season debut that Vikings fans and his fantasy football managers hoped for, at least when it comes to his numbers.

He finished Week 1 with just four receptions for 44 yards, but one of those catches was for a touchdown.

Even so, he did a great job of making Chicago Bears defenders miss, not to mention all the defensive attention he drew.

He’s going to be J.J. McCarthy’s best friend and primary weapon for a long time, and it’s just a matter of time before he starts putting up the video game-like numbers he has us used to.

While Ja’Marr Chase paced all pass-catchers in receptions, receiving yards, and receiving touchdowns last season, most analysts still agree that Jefferson, a fellow former LSU Tiger, is still the best wide receiver in the game.

And whenever you’re in the same sentence as other legends of the game, like the one and only Larry Fitzgerald, you should know that you’re doing things pretty well.
