Japan prime minister Ishiba says continuing to ask US to lower auto tariffs

He remains defiant that he won’t be resigning but there was definitely intense pressure during the ruling party LDP’s post-election meeting for him to do so. For now, he stays on but this might just be the best deal that he can get for now unless he offers up more of a compromise. It’s tough to negotiate when you’re back into a corner.
