The Green Bay Packers stunned the NFL on Thursday by dealing a pair of first-round picks and defensive tackle Kenny Clark to the Dallas Cowboys for superstar edge rusher Micah Parsons, who had been in the midst of a very public back-and-forth with owner Jerry Jones before ultimately requesting a trade due to not getting a contract extension.
Immediately upon being traded, Parsons signed a four-year, $188 million contract with the Packers, making him the highest-paid non-quarterback in NFL history, though more interesting details have emerged about the deal today.
NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero shared on X that Parsons is set to receive a $44 million signing bonus as well as $120 million fully guaranteed at signing, with another $16 million for injury that vests a year early.

It’s a lot of money, but for a team firmly in the middle of a window to contend for a championship, it was likely a no-brainer.
Parsons just turned 26 and has already racked up 52.5 career sacks, made the Pro Bowl in all four of his years in the league, and made two All-Pro teams.
The Packers have all the tools needed to get it done, with a star young quarterback already locked into a long-term extension, a strong offensive line, dangerous weapons at running back and wide receiver, and a defense full of playmakers that now adds the best young pass rusher in the NFL.
It’s still hard to come to terms with the fact that the Cowboys actually traded Parsons instead of opting to pay him, and the question now will be whether he can live up to this massive contract.
