Insider Says Seahawks Could Have Reunion With Former CB

The Seattle Seahawks no longer have their ‘Legion of Boom’ defense.

However, while those days are long gone, head coach Mike Macdonald would certainly like to add firepower to the defense.

Notably, they could turn to a familiar face to do so.

According to a report by Jeremy Fowler of ESPN, the Seahawks have been in active discussions with free-agent CB Shaquill Griffin.

They want to add more experience to their young secondary defense, and they’re already familiar with him and his character.

The Seahawks took Griffin in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, and he started 53 games over four years with the organization, even making it to the Pro Bowl in 2019, his best season in the league.

The 29-year-old played 17 games and logged two interceptions for the Minnesota Vikings last season, including three starts.

He recently fueled speculation by sharing a clip of himself working out in Vikings’ gear, so a return to the Twin Cities is also a possibility right now.

The Seahawks took star prospect Nick Emmanwori in the second round of the 2025 NFL Draft, but they could still use another proven player behind their new safety.

Griffin is a proven commodity in this league, and he would be a solid plug-and-play addition to their defense.

Through eight years in the league, Griffin has made 106 appearances (82 starts), recording 70 passes defended, nine interceptions, one forced fumble, and one sack.

He left the Seahawks in 2021 and has had stints with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Houston Texans, Carolina Panthers, and Vikings.
