Insider Believes Released QB Could Be A ‘Good Add’ For Jets

The New York Giants have settled on their quarterbacks, keeping Russell Wilson, Jameis Winston and Jaxson Dart, as expected.

That means they had to part with fan favorite Tommy DeVito.

However, this might not be the end of the road for the hometown hero.

ESPN reporter Rich Cimini believes DeVito could be a solid addition to the New York Jets‘ practice squad.

“I know others have mentioned this as well, but I think he’d be a good add for the Jets (practice squad). They like [Brady] Cook and can keep him, too, but DeVito has game experience. Important, considering [Tyrod] Taylor’s injury/history,” Cimini wrote on X.

The Jets have Justin Fields as their starter, with Taylor as his backup and rookie Cook as the third-stringer.

A New Jersey native, DeVito likely would love to have another opportunity to stay close to home.

Given his looks and heritage, not to mention some impressive play for an undrafted rookie, DeVito became a fan favorite in New York almost immediately.

He might not be a viable starting quarterback, but that doesn’t mean he can’t have a role in the league.

The Jets may have a need at quarterback, so perhaps they will want to add a local product.
