Ian Rapoport Reveals Micah Parsons’ Status For Sunday

The Green Bay Packers are about to welcome their next star on Sunday.

The Packers will host the Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field for a divisional clash in the season opener.

And, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Micah Parsons will be a full go for this matchup:

“My understanding is Micah Parsons is expected to play. He’s going to do what is necessary to get on the field. Parsons is doing everything he can to make that happen. I expect it to happen, so Packers fans should get a look at their new star as early as possible, and that is very good sign against the Detroit Lions,” Rapoport said.

The Packers made a big splash when they traded for the disgruntled pass-rusher.

Their defense took a big leap in the first year under defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley, but it still felt like their pass rush could use a boost.

Parsons, who was reportedly dealing with an injured back, hit the ground running since he arrived in Lambeau Field.

Once again, it seems like there’s nothing like a millionaire contract extension to heal all bodies.

They got just that with a player who’s logged at least 12.0 sacks in each of his four years in the league.

Of course, they paid a steep price both to acquire him and extend him, but that’s the type of sacrifice you just have to make whenever a player of his caliber becomes available, as it doesn’t happen very often.

The Packers expect that his ability to get to the quarterback and draw double teams will give them the push they need to return to Super Bowl contention.

There’s a lot of pressure on Jordan Love to bounce back after a somewhat disappointing year, and having a championship-caliber defense by his side will certainly make things easier.
