I’m going to call b/s on this, but just as a heads up to some garbage floating around the place:
- Jerome Powell will resign on Monday
- Trump plans on lowering interest rates
Like I said, garbage, and b/s.
But, there it is.
The background to this baloney is:
- no evidence was provided to support the rumour
- Powell has said he will serve out his term until it ends in May 2026
- Trump seems unable to fire Powell given recent court rulings
- Recent comments from Fed officials are the Bank is firmly on hold for the next meeting, or perhaps further
