The New York Giants have found something unexpected during their preseason preparations.
A rookie quarterback has been turning heads in East Rutherford, creating genuine excitement about the franchise’s future under center.
Jaxson Dart has consistently delivered impressive performances throughout camp, showing the arm talent and composure that could make him a legitimate starter sooner than anyone anticipated.
Former NFL coach Herm Edwards recently shared his thoughts on the rookie during ESPN’s NFL Live.
“This guy reminds me a lot, when you watch him play, a lot of Josh Allen. Big, strong arm. Accurate, mobile, runs. Coach had that guy in Buffalo. Everybody sees it,” Edwards said of Dart.

The comparison carries extra weight given head coach Brian Daboll’s history with Allen in Buffalo.
Daboll served as the Bills’ offensive coordinator from 2018 to 2021, helping develop Allen into one of the NFL’s premier quarterbacks. That success played a major role in the Giants’ hiring Daboll in 2022.
Dart has given plenty of reasons for optimism. He completed 32 of 47 passes for 372 yards and three touchdowns without throwing an interception during the preseason.
His ability to extend plays with his legs and deliver accurate throws on the move has drawn praise from coaches and teammates.
The rookie has spent considerable time studying Allen’s game film while working within Daboll’s system.
His arm strength allows him to make throws that few quarterbacks can attempt, while his mobility gives the offense additional dimensions.
Russell Wilson remains the established starter, but Dart’s rapid development has created an intriguing situation.
The Giants may have found their long-term answer at quarterback much earlier than expected.
