Giants Add Highly Regarded Undrafted Free Agent

With the 2025 NFL Draft officially wrapped after 257 selections over seven rounds, teams are now racing to scoop up undrafted gems.

The New York Giants are among those moving quickly to find perfect fits.

After trading up to select quarterback Jaxson Dart in the first round, the Giants are staying busy, and their latest addition brings a promising defensive talent to New York.

“The Giants have agreed to a deal with South Carolina CB O’Donnell Fortune as an undrafted free agent, source says. A number of teams were interested in the Shrine Bowl defensive MVP …,” NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo wrote on X.

Fortune’s standout performance at the East West Shrine Bowl represented the culmination of his development from special teams contributor to defensive standout.

The cornerback had an impressive five-year career at South Carolina, earning a starting role during his final two seasons.

His 2024 campaign proved particularly productive as he recorded 47 tackles, one forced fumble, three interceptions, and three passes defended.

While Fortune displayed some limitations, his skills caught scouts’ attention.

His outside coverage highlights his potential value despite occasional hesitation in tackling situations.

Fortune’s field vision and quickness compensate for his less physical approach in contested catch scenarios and somewhat delayed transitions.

These attributes suggest he could find a role in nickel packages as he develops with the Giants.
