Germany August GfK consumer sentiment -21.5 vs -19.2 expected

German consumer sentiment misses on estimates and falls further going into August, with GfK noting that households are opting more to save. Of note, the index on willingness to save rose to 16.4 (up from 13.9 previously) reaching its highest in nearly one and a half years. GfK cites “general uncertainty and the need to be prepared for difficult situations and high prices, especially for food” as the main reasons.
