Gonzalo Garcia has fired Real Madrid into the lead on the brink of half-time in their La Liga clash with Real Oviedo.

The Los Blancos forward was given the nod by Alvaro Arbeloa following a shake-up from last week’s El Clasico loss to Barcelona, and he has repaid his manager immediately as Madrid look to finish the campaign on a high.

With just a few seconds remaining in the first half, Madrid won the ball high up the pitch thanks to some excellent pressing.

A pass was zipped into Garcia inside the box, who cushioned the ball with his first touch before firing home into the bottom corner.

It was enough to get the Santiago Bernabeu cheering, despite a hostile atmosphere following President Florentino Perez’s speech on Wednesday.
