The Green Bay Packers want to give Jeff Hafley more weapons for his defense.
The second-year defensive coordinator made a big impact in his first campaign with the team, and he might now get a former top-ten draft pick.
According to Ian Rapoport of NFL Network, the Packers will host former No. 8 pick Isaiah Simmons.

The 6-foot-4, 238-pound linebacker entered the league with the Arizona Cardinals back in 2020, and he’s now a free agent after spending two years with the New York Giants.
He was a superstar coming out of college, and his athletic traits turned plenty of heads at the NFL Scouting Combine.
Nevertheless, he has failed to establish himself in the pros, mostly because he has yet to find a steady position.
He’s coming off making just one start last season, but he’s very young, and a creative defensive coordinator like Hafley might be able to find him a spot.
Through his five years in the league, Simmons has made 84 career appearances, logging 21 pass breakups, 15 tackles for loss, nine forced fumbles, 8.5 sacks, five interceptions, and three fumble recoveries.
The Packers could use some help next to Edgerrin Cooper and Quay Walker.
Simmons has also made an impact on special teams, and that kind of versatility is always a positive addition to any team, even if he hasn’t lived up to the sky-high expectations bestowed upon him.
