The Indianapolis Colts made a huge move at the NFL trade deadline.
Acquiring a player of Sauce Gardner‘s caliber not only helps their defense, but it also sends a message.
The team is fully committed, and it believes its Super Bowl window is wide open.
That’s why former NFL wide receiver Greg Jennings is so impressed by the deal that adds the All-Pro cornerback from the New York Jets.
“Secondary needed a boost. They had been suffering with injuries all season long. You add Sauce Gardner? Are you kidding me? Defensively, they have pieces at every level. Now you add Sauce? I will say this: Sauce, I need you to be better. Move your feet, play good defense, and be special,” Jennings said.

Jennings thinks the Colts are for real, and he likes their chances even more now.
Indianapolis will send its 2026 and 2027 first-round selections, and wide receiver A.D. Mitchell, to New York.
The deal comes just months after the Jets signed Gardner to a four-year, $120.4 million contract extension that made him the highest-paid cornerback in the league.
An NFL Defensive Rookie of the Year, Gardner was an All-Pro in his first two seasons.
As for the Colts, they rank third in the league with 10 interceptions this season, and adding Gardner should only make their defense better.
They clearly wanted to make a statement after losing their second game of the season in Week 9 to the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Fans have raved about the Colts’ offense with quarterback Daniel Jones and running back Jonathan Taylor having MVP-caliber seasons, but now their defense might turn plenty of heads going forward.
