The Atlanta Falcons have positioned themselves well heading into the 2025 NFL Draft through savvy offseason moves.
They recently brought back a veteran cornerback to solidify their secondary.

With all four of their top cornerbacks from last season now under contract, they’ve built a solid foundation that provides flexibility in their upcoming draft strategy.
While selecting a cornerback isn’t essential, targeting one with a high upside could benefit the team.
However, re-signing Alford potentially reveals a shift in focus toward bolstering the pass rush, an improvement that could elevate the entire defensive performance.
Alford’s journey with the Falcons began in 2022 after coming over from the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL.
Since then, he has shown remarkable durability, appearing in at least 16 games each season.
The 2024 campaign marked a significant step forward for him, as he secured a career-high 11 starts and took over the nickel corner position.
His performance resulted in personal bests with 83 combined tackles and 11 passes defended.
However, Alford faced coverage challenges throughout the season, allowing 67 receptions, 606 yards and eight touchdowns on 93 targets.
This mixed performance led the Falcons to let him test the free agent market.
The Falcons have A.J. Terrell as their primary perimeter defender, complemented by Mike Hughes, who recently signed a three-year extension.
Those players will continue to man the boundary positions, while Alford likely will return to his role defending the slot.
