European indices close mixed to end the trading week

The major European indices are closing mixed to end the trading week. For the week, the indices are closing mostly higher the German DAX the one exception. France’s CAC was near unchanged but higher

For the trading day:

  • Spain’s Ibex -0.13%
  • Italy’s FTSE MIB +0.31%

For the trading week, the German DAX fell modestly and France’s CAC was near unchanged but the other major indices closed higher:

  • France’s CAC +0.15%
  • UK’s FTSE 100 +1.43%
  • Spain’s Ibex +1.77%
  • Italy’s FTSE MIB +1.03%

As London/European traders head for the exits, US stocks are trading near their highs for the day:

  • Dow industrial average +0.13%
  • S&P index +0.24%
  • NASDAQ index +0.28%
  • Russell 2000-0.15%

Looking at the benchmark 10-year yield in Europe:

  • Germany +3.5 basis points at 2.712%
  • UK -3.8 basis points at 4.631%
  • France unchanged at 3.380%
  • Italy +1.4 basis points at 3.578%
  • Spain -7.4 basis points at 3.312%

Looking at the US debt market:

  • 2- year yield 3.93%, -0.2 basis points
  • 5-year yield 3.962%, -0.8 basis points
  • 10 year yield 4.401%, -0.6 basis points
  • 30 year 4.942%, -0.7 basis points
