Elon Musk in an interview on Saturday said that “Europe and the United States should move to a zero-tariff situation, effectively creating a free trade zone between Europe and North America. Also, more freedom of people to move between Europe and North America. If they wish to work in Europe or wish to work in America, they should be allowed to do so. That has certainly been my advice to the President.”
He now posted a video on his social media platform X with Milton Friedman arguing against tariffs. All economists agree that less trade barriers boost global growth. And more barriers of course weigh on global growth as it’s been also clear from the market reaction. If all this drama leads to less barriers, then it would be a huge achievement and the markets will respond very positively in expectations of better global growth.
