ECB's Schnabel: I do not see a reason for a further rate cut

  • Rates are already mildly accommodative
  • Inflation risks are tilted to the upside
  • Tariffs are on balance inflationary
  • Less worried about exchange rate
  • Global rate hikes may come earlier than people think

It looks like the summer break is coming to an end and we’ll see more commentary from ECB policymakers before we get to the next meeting on 11 September. As things stand, traders are not pricing in any more rate cuts for the year by the ECB.
