For years, Drew Brees was one of the best quarterbacks in the NFL.
While most of the talk often centered on Tom Brady and Peyton Manning, Brees held his own against everybody else in the league.
He was known for staying calm, poised and being a cerebral player with a high football IQ and quick processing to pick apart a defense.
He was also a beloved and respected teammate.
That’s why some thought he would make a strong coach if he put his mind to it.
However, he doesn’t seem to be interested in that.
Asked what was holding him and former teammate Reggie Bush back from coaching in the NFL, the Super Bowl champion gave a playful answer.
“I just don’t know if the league is ready for us right now, you know?” Brees said, via “Up & Adams.”

Brees had a brief stint as a commentator and analyst, but fans didn’t seem to care much for him in that role.
Being a great player doesn’t necessarily mean he’s going to be great at anything else related to the game, and Brees doesn’t seem to miss being around the field.
Of course, if he ever chooses to go into coaching, he likely will find plenty of doors wide open for him and teams welcoming him with open arms.
He will have to earn his stripes just like everybody else, but it’s safe to say that multiple teams could do a lot worse than having him as their offensive coordinator or quarterbacks coach.
